Dear all,

We hope you all had an enjoyable evening at the Health Research Society of Canterbury's annual Poster Evening on August 25th. We have a great turnout, with over 60 attendees.

Two poster prizes were awarded on the night. We also awarded the prizes for the best presentations at the Hospital Grand Rounds earlier in the year (May 20 and 27).

Congratulations to:

Hannah Prebble, University of Canterbury -- "Activation of immune cells in live carotid plaque" (May 20)

Michelle Goodman, University of Canterbury -- "Homogenisation theory applied to coupled mammalian cells" (May 27)

A reminder that abstracts for the presentations at the Grand Rounds have been published in the NZ Medical Journal (Vol. 129, No. 1439: 5 August 2016).

Congratulations to the two poster prize winners:

Katharina Russell, Lincoln University -- "In vivo monitoring of viral mediated gene injection therapy in ovine Batten disease"

Amy Hill, University of Canterbury -- "The effect of herbicides on the frequency of antibiotic resistance in microbes"

Keep your eyes open for an end of the year HRSC event in November.

Kind regards,
On behalf of the HRSC, Tracy Melzer
